For over ten years, South African Road Trip has guaranteed an exciting evening full of singing, dancing, and South African vibes. Next season, the fourteen singers, dancers, and musicians will return to the stage with their brand new show We Are Family.
The artists come from Xhosa families—one of South Africa’s official cultures—and have grown up surrounded by music and dance. For them, singing together at a meal is as natural and meaningful as the food itself.
In their culture, families are at the heart of everything, and traditions are passed down from generation to generation, with mothers playing an especially important role.
In We Are Family, South African Road Trip introduces you to these family traditions. You’ll also get to know the singers, dancers, and musicians better through personal songs and stories.
Together with an energetic live band, they perform songs by African artists like Brenda Fassie, Miriam Makeba, and Fela Kuti, as well as classics like We Are Family (Sister Sledge) and Respect (Aretha Franklin).
